Tumkur, Sep 18: Murali, Deputy Tahsildar in the office of the district Deputy Commissioner here, was arrested by the police of New Extension station in the city on Wednesday September 17. He however, was released on bail later in the day.

The Deputy Tahsildar mentioned above allegedly sexually harassed a convener of the Aam Aadmi Party, who happens to be a relative of former state minister, B T Lalita Nayak. The said Deputy Tahsildar, the complainant said, who is a resident of 8th mile in Bangalore, was coming to the city in a Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation bus, when he got a seat by the side of the woman complainant. She said in her complaint that in the guise of promising to provide her an employment, he behaved with her in an indecent manner. Even after she got enraged and objected to his behaviour, he continued with his sexual advances, she said.

She also warned him of filing a police complaint. By that time, the bus had reached near the office of the Superintendent of Police (SP) here. She stopped the bus and tried to drag the accused to the office of the SP. Murali, sensing that the situation was going out of hand, tried to flee in an auto rickshaw, but the woman instructed the auto driver against carrying the man away. Thereafter, she took him inside the office and then to the New Extension police station where she filed a sexual harassment case.
