Mangalore, Sep 16: State health minister, U T Khadar has expressed the opinion that there is a need to look into in detail, about the episode in which Abdul Khader from Uppala, a passenger who had arrived at the local airport to board a flight bound for the Gulf region late night on Saturday, had been suspected to be carrying explosive materials.
He said that a request will be made to the central government to conduct a detailed investigation into the basis on which suspicions had been expressed about this air passenger and the shortcomings if any in handling this entire episode.
The minister said that on the face of it, it was apparent that Abdul Khader was not in possession of dangerous substances.
"The affected persons as well as the people in general want to know who was responsible for projecting as if the passenger was carrying explosives, without properly giving a thought to the issue, and also who was to blame for this entire episode. To ensure that such incidents do not recur, a detailed inquiry needs to be held. Prima facie, negligence on the part of Jet Airways personnel is apparent. It also appears that the security staff had shown undue haste," U T Khadar said in a press statement issued on Tuesday September 16.
