Bangalore, Sep 18: Are you one of those worried about the rising telephone bills? Well, then the State-owned BSNL has come up with an offer that allows subscribers to convert the existing post-paid services into pre-paid and, revert when not necessary.
The fixed-line pre-paid (FLPP) service, introduced this month, enables a subscriber to make calls from a prepaid account linked to the telephone number. According to the BSNL officials, the new pre-paid service is easier to handle too.
Unlike the prepaid card ‘ITC’ service, where the authentication was done every time through a 16-digit PIN, the authentication of FLPP is linked to the telephone line and the user is not required to dial the account number/ PIN for authentication. The new service comes with easy recharge options.
The FLPP service facilitates easy de-linking from the telephone line when prepaid is not required. It comes with STD/ISD facility just like in a post-paid connection and facilitates online balance enquiry. The subscribers other than PCOs, will also have follow-on features such as no-reply, busy and called-party-release to dial another number. Calls to numbers 100, 101 and 102 etc., are free.
The BSNL has four types of FLPP accounts: PCO FLPP account; PCO local FLPP account; General FLPP pre-paid account and General FLPP pre-paid + post-paid account. The BSNL offices concerned will give details about the kind of services available in a particular area, officials said.
