Bhatkal, Sep 8: An unidentified group of people attacked two individuals who had come to purchase cattle from Murdeshwar near here on Sunday September 7 night.
It is said that Sadaan (30) and Nasrullah (24) were attacked by the unidentified group of men when they went to buy cattle from Jathappa Naik in Murdeshwar.
Sadan and Nasrullah paid Jathappa Naik Rs 17,000 in cash for two animals. After receiving the cash, the owner reportedly asked Sadaan and Nasrullah to come by night and take the cattle away. When Sadaan and Nasrulla went to get the cattle, a group of around thirty men allegedly attacked them with iron rods.
Both were admitted in a private hospital at Murdeshwar. At night, several people gathered in the hospital premises and demanded the arrest of the culprits.
DySP Muthuraj, circle inspector Prashanth Nayak along with other officers rushed to the spot. DySP assured the people of immediate arrest of the culprits.
The police arrested Mahesh Naik, Nagesh Naik, Jathapa Naik, Purandar Naik and Ganesh Naik on Monday, September 8 in this regard. The accused were produced in the court.
A case has been registered in Murdeshwar police station.
