Mangalore, Sep 5: A man from Rajasthan, serving as a cleaner of a lorry, died after the container lorry passed over him after he fell on to the road due to an electric shock.
The incident took place on Friday September 5 at Ambika Nagar, Panjimogaru here. The deceased has been identified as Dilshad (20) from Sri Madhopur in Sikar district of Rajasthan.
The lorry registered in Haryana was commuting from Ahmadabad to Kannur carrying the container.
Dilshad was guiding the driver in avoiding the branch of a tree that stood as an obstacle during the travel when the incident occured. On the direction of the driver, Dilshad got down from the container lorry to guide him so that he could avoid hitting the branch. It is said that while he was instructing the driver, the branch came in contact with both the lorry and a nearby high tension wire, sending an electric shock through Dilshad who was also in contact with the lorry.
As a result of the electric shock, he was instantly thrown on the road; and the lorry driver who failed to notice Dilshad, ran over him. It is gathered from the police sources that he died on the spot.
A case has been registered in Kavoor police station, it is learnt.
