Mangalore, Sep 15: The city's Town Official Language Implementation Committee (TOLIC) was awarded the coveted national-level Indira Gandhi Rajbhasha Puraskar instituted by the Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India on Thursday September 14.

Corporation Bank chairman and managing director and city's TOLIC chairman B Sambamurthy received the award from Union home minister Shivraj Patil at Vigyan Bhavan in New Delhi.

The award is the most prestigious one in the field of official language implementation and the city's TOLIC, which has been constant winner of several regional and state awards, was chosen for the year 2004-05 for its work in this area.
