Mangalore, Aug 30: H Narayana Sanil (93), a veteran social worker, resident of 'Vasanth Bhavana' at Haleangadi passed away due to severe illness here in the morning in a private hospital here on Sunday August 31.
By profession, H Narayana Sanil was an A-grade civil contractor in PWD. He was also a donor. He served Haleangadi Grampanchayath for 35 years as the president. He worked as the president and vice-president of Haleangadi-Padu-Panambur cooperative Agriculture bank for 50 years.
He was also responsible in construct Haleangadi Government High school and Government Pre-University. He also served as president of development committee member for two colleges in educational field. Government Pre-University College was re-named as Narayana Sanil Government Pre-University College to mark his 77 birth anniversary.This honour was bestowed on him after a popular demand of the people.
He served Haleangadi Billawa association as an honorary president, Sarvajanika Ganeshostava committee founder president, UBMC school development committee president, renovation committee president of Sasihithlu Bagavathi temple, vice- president of Mangalore Taluk board, president of Mangalore Taluk Agricultural Products Sales Cooperative director, director of Dakshina Kannada district cooperative, president of Mulki Arasu Kambla committee, development president of Mulki government hospital, Trustee of Shri Vidhya Vinayaka Silver Jubilee Trust.
For his service in grampanchayath, Haleangadi Kadike road was named after him as 'Shri Narayana Sanil Road'. In primary school syllabus, there is a lesson on Grampanchayath which represents H Narayana Sanil. He also donated land for Haleangadi Mahila Mandali and helped to construct the building.
He was famous for solving internal problems in the vicinity of Haleangadi without allowing the problem to reach to the police station.
His final rites will be held with special honour tomorrow morning at 10 am, stated his family sources.
