Mangalore, Aug 31: Parish community day was celebrated on Sunday Aug 31 at Kinnigoli Church. Parishioners offered a thanksgiving mass for the favours received through Immaculate Conception.
The patron of the parish Fr Joseph Martis, rector of St Joseph's seminary celebrated the mass along with Fr Vincent Moneiro, parish priest of Kinnigoli Church, Fr Ashok Rayan Crasta, assistant parish priest of Kinnigoli Church and Fr Victor Pinto.
A stage programme and cultural programme were organized in the church hall. Fr Vincent Monteiro presided over the function. Fr Joseph Martis, Fr Victor Pinto and Sr Vithalis, superiorof Marywale Convent were the chief guests for the programme.
Dr Liliian Sequeira of Bethany who served as a director of Concetta Hospial, Kinnigoli for 25years was felicitated on the ocassion.
Micheal Pinto, director of Small Christian Community read the felicitation note. Ward gurkar and the presidents of different organizations of the church were also honoured.
While congratulating the parishioners, Fr Joseph Martis said that several times he had visited Kinnigoli parish. He also said that he had observed that parishioners were full of talents, unity and cooperation.
In his presidential address Fr Vincent Monteiro said, "Today, parishioners have come together whole-heartedly to celebrate this memorable ocassion. Several committees were formed and every committee has discharged thier duty very well."
He appealed to the parishioners to come together and join hands for the welfare and betterment of the parish.
Vincent D'Souza, vice-president of the parish traditionally welcomed the guests and parishioners by offering 'Paan Pod'.
Fr Ashok Rayan Crasta presented the annual report with the power point visuals.
Robert Lobo, secretary of the parish proposed the vote of thanks. Lorna D'Souza and William D'Souza compered the programme. The programme was ended with a family meal prepared by the parishioners.
