Mumbai, Aug 20 (IANS): Actor Harsh Rajput, who has taken on the role of a mentally challenged character in "Sapne Suhane Ladakpan Ke", believes it's vital for a performer to opt for varied roles and says the character especially comes as a "rare opportunity".
In the Zee TV show, Harsh plays Bittu, a 22-year-old with the mental state of a child. The character will appear normal, his childish behaviour would come to the fore the moment he would start talking.
Harsh is excited to portray the difficult and challenging character, which entered the show's narrative earlier this week.
"I feel as an actor one needs to test one's calibre by opting for varied roles, quite different from each other. I didn't think twice before accepting the role of the mentally challenged boy Bittu as one rarely gets such an opportunity on the small screen," he said in a statement.
He is trying to add his own nuances to the character.
"I didn't want to take any references from any other actor which will invariably look like a copy. It's not easy to portray such a complex character but I am putting my best foot forward to make it look more natural without being over the top.
"I'm looking forward to the audience's reaction. I hope they like my performance," added the actor, also seen in "Dharti Ka Veer Yodha Prithviraj Chauhan" and "Dharam Veer".
Roopl Tyagi, Mahima Makwana, Piyush Sahdev are seen in important roles in "Sapne Suhane Ladakpan Ke".
