Panaji, Sep 4: It was a real treat for all the music-lovers who were present at Kala Academy to witness the different veterans of Indian classical music performing live.


Deputy chief minister Dr Wilfred de Souza is seen inaugurating the festival in the presence of other dignitaries of the Samraat international club.

The International Festival of Indian Classical Music organized by the Samraat International Club had some of the gems of Indian Classical music performing live.

The highlights of the programme were performances by Saskia Rao-de-haas, the Indian cello performer from the Netherlands and the well-known Indian vocalist duo Raajan-Saajan Mishra along with a local artiste Sumedha Desai.

Saskia Rao-de-haas hails from the Netherlands and is known the world over for her Indian cello performance. Her instrument is the only f its kind in the world, played using both European and Indian techniques.

The Raajan-Saajan Mishra duo stole the show with their mind-blowing performance. Local vocalist Sumedha Desai was the first artiste to perform in the festival in Goa, receiving thunderous applause and demands for encore from the music-lovers.

The festival is being organized at various venues in India, England and America.
