What Next after class 10 ? - Free Career Guidance by Daijiworld

Daijiworld Media Network

Mangalore, Aug 19 : Daijiworld group will be organizing a WHAT NEXT AFTER 10th STANDARD, a Free Career Guidance Workshop at SDM Law College Hall on Sunday, August 24th, 2014 for students who are currently pursuing their Class X.

The workshop is a general program providing a broad overview of the numerous career options available to students after Class X in Arts, Science and Commerce, with an introduction to career planning. The inter-active workshop, using audio-visual aids, assists students in identifying career options and appropriate higher education routes for each, thus enabling them determine the steps they need to take to equip themselves for the world of work.

The mushrooming of several new careers has made it difficult for youngsters to make an informed choice and for parents to guide their children. The workshop will expose students to opportunities in a range of professional fields from fashion designing, law and hotel management to business management, bio-technology and environmental sciences, covering not only the more conventional careers such as the civil services, law, engineering and medicine, as well as a host of new options in event management, modeling, mobile apps design, film animation, music technology, web design, fashion merchandising, social media marketing and many others. The selection of a particular stream, affects the choice of a career. The subjects you study in Classes 11 and 12 lay the foundation for your choice of subjects in college. So the focus of this workshop is to create awareness among students of the process of career planning, and to help them explore the hundreds of exciting career possibilities from the different subject streams.

During the question and answer sessions, students and their parents can put forward any question they may have on the different options available, as also on the most suitable institutions for studying in India and abroad and the job opportunities thereafter.

All the students will be provided with a free Career Path Chart, which will help them to understand A-Z courses which they can pursue in India after Class X. Complimentary Lunch will be provided. The duration of the workshop is 4 Hrs, from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM followed by Lunch.

The formal program will be inaugurated by Krishna Palemar, Ex Minister, Government of Karnataka and Presided over by Walter Nandalike, Founder Daijiworld Media. C.A Jagannath Kamath will be the guest of Honor.

Career advice and market requirements have both to be researched. There are some fantastic careers which very few of us would have thought of, but the market demand for the same or the placements services available for the suitable careers have to work hand in hand.
Such work shops should also be held for train the Trainers as a lot of schools have counselors who are total zero in such career guidance aspects

    Dear Sir,

Thank you for your valuable suggestion. We have organized a networking lunch the same afternoon at a hotel for all the Headmasters and Headmistress of various schools participating so that we can discuss with them about how to make small changes in the existing system to ensure our students excel not only in Engineering and Medicine.

    Dear Ananth Prabhu,

My son is studying in X std. and I wanted to attend this session along with him. But we could not, as the Class X Pre-Exams are being held from 22-Aug to 30-Aug.

Please make plans to conduct session in Udupi/Manipal and give us an opportunity to attend the same. Better if these type of sessions are organized during October holidays.

Great. Good work, I wish the organizers a huge success.

At the same time, I wish some attention is given for instilling skills that are required in day-to-day life. Have we thought where will our technicians / skilled labour come from ? Masons, Plumbers, Electricians, Mechanics, cooks ? India is already invaded by Bangladeshi/Nepali workers while our UNSKILLED employee force flock to Gulf countries for slavery. Foreign low-scale workers collect thrice the wages in India than paid in Gulf countries ! They travel every three months to their home country but our workers weep to be sent home once in two years !

We boast of huge coconut farms but where are the tenders ? The trees are not treated, not cleaned, very few coconut plucking men are alive today. Once their life ends, we may wait for a coconut to dry and fall just as we wait for the dung from the cattle ! Irrespective of whose property (or head for that matter) will be damaged due to these falling objects !

I talked to a group of village boys who opted for Bachelor's Degree because there was nothing better to opt for. I asked them, what next ? They did not have any reply.

Please extend your gesture of goodwill to to remote areas too. Else, our cities will be full of migrating villagers seeking jobs or occupying in illegal activities. This will affect the social balance, leaving older parents in the villages with deserted paddy fields that eventually be transformed into coconut plantation due to lack of labour force because the younger generation is in the cities/Gulf !
