Jhansi, Aug 5: Promoting her upcoming movie 'Mardaani' with director Pradeep Sarkar and script writer Gopi Puthran, actress Rani Mukhrjee said that the movie was inspired by current events and was a message to encourage girls to not accept atrocities committed against them passively.
The movie revolves around a female cop played by Rani Mukherjee who exposes a human trafficking racket. She said that the movie was made to imbue a sense of confidence and power in women. She also said that it was an honest effort by their team on a topic that all of them felt quite strongly about. She elaborated that even if the film managed to ignite a sense of empowerment in its female audiences then their effort would be well worth it.
Rani went on to say that it was essential for schools to incorporate martial arts for their girl students so that every girl was independently able to protect herself. This would help girls to feel safe as they would not need to depend upon someone else for their safety.
Recently married, Rani Mukherjee's husband Aditya Chopra has produced the movie which is set to release on the 22nd of August.
