Margao, Aug 13: While the life guards of Goan seashore are on an indefinite strike from AUgust 10 seeking redressal of several demands, an instructor and a student of St Mary College of Engineering Technology, Hyderabad drowned in the sea at Colva beach on Friday evening.
 
A group of 30 Students along with two teachers of St Mary College of Engineering Technology, Hyderabad arrived in Goa on Friday evening on study tour. No sooner did they arrive in Colva by Hyderabad Tourism bus than they ventured in the sea for swimming.

while playing in the rough sea one of the students, N Murthy (21) was dragged by strong current of waves in the sea. As there were no Life Guards present on the seashore, his instructor Vishnu Vardhan (31) tried to rescue him, but unfortunately he was also dragged by strong waves.

When contacted in the matter,  Salcete Police DYSP Tony Fernandes said that their bodies were not traced. But Helicopters were called in service to trace them.
 
A Colva Police team is investigating the case.
