Mangalore, Aug 1: A twenty-year-old person who had gone fishing along with 3 other men, has gone missing after their fishing boat sunk near the Bengare estuary on Monday July 31.

Ranjith Karkera (20), son of Pratibha Karkera of Bengare had gone fishing on Vithobha Rukmini fishing boat, owned by Ganesh Putran, on Sunday July 30 night. Bengare residents Sathish Kumar, Nishan and Pavan too had gone along with Ranjith.

However, their fishing boat sunk in the deep sea around midnight on Sunday, as a result of which all the four fishermen were thrown out in the deep sea.  While Nishan, Pavan and Sathish managed to reach the shores by swimming, Ranjith has not yet been found.

However, this news spread a bit too late in the area since there was no one present in Ranjith's house.  While his father had died sometime ago, his mother Pratibha had gone to her sister's house in Mysore.  Since there was no one in the house, Ranjith had locked the house and had gone fishing.

So far there have been no details about Ranjith's whereabouts.  Whether he has managed to reach the shore somewhere else, or whether he has drowned is not yet known.
