Panaji, Jul 30: Vice-President of D-LINK India Ltd and president of the Goa Chamber of Commerce Nitin Kunkolienker has been elected as member of the Executive Council of the Manufacturers Association of IT (MAIT).

MAIT is the apex body of the IT manufacturers' in India. It is to the hardware industry what NASSCOM is to the software industry. MAIT membership comprises of Indian and Multinational companies. The Council consists of only 10 members made up of the top well-known IT hardware companies of India. Some of them include S S Raman of TVS Electronics Ltd, Anoop G Nambiar of Lenovo (India) Pvt Ltd and Ashutosh Vaidya of Wipro Infotech Ltd.
 
It is indeed creditable that Nitin Kunkolienker has been elected out of a field of 85 candidates for this post as member of the Executive Council.

Set up in 1982 for purposes of scientific, educational and IT industry promotion, MAIT has emerged as an effective, influential and dynamic organization. It represents actively the hardware, training, Design/R&D and the associated services sectors of the Indian IT Industry.

The organization's special focus is on domestic market development and attracting foreign investment in the Indian IT Industry. It represents 92% of the hardware sector. MAIT is represented on all concerned Government of India forums and works in close association with the Department of IT, Ministry of Communications & IT and others for the advancement of the IT Industry in India.
