Mangalore, Jul 30: Following the stray incidents of violence witnessed in the city on Saturday, Jul 29 the police has made adequate security arrangements to avoid any untoward incident.

 

According to DK SP B Dayanand, security has been beefed up in the city. Civil and Armed personnel have been deployed in all sensitive places of the city. In addition, KSRP and DAR striking forces have also been deployed at strategic places in the city.

It is reiterated that stern action will be taken against all mischievous, criminal and anti social elements who try to disturb peace and tranquility of the area, the SP warned.

Four stray incidents of stone pelting were reported in the city on Jul 29 in which two showrooms, one bus and one auto rickshaw were targeted. In one such incident of attack on auto rickshaw at Nandigudde, one person was caught red hand. On interrogation he was identified to be belonging to the Shri Rama Sene. Based on his information, three more persons who had participated in the incident were arrested. They also belonged to the Shri Rama Sene.

Subsequently, the Mangalore East Police took about 18 persons belonging to the Shri Rama Sene who had gathered at Balmatta into preventive custody. They are being produced before the jurisdictional Taluk Executive Magistrate under the preventive sections of Cr PC.

Later in the evening on Saturday another 33 persons who had gathered in front of the Mangalore East police station protesting against the arrest of their friends were also rounded up as precautionary measure under sec 71 of the Karnataka Police Act.

The SP has ruled out any connection between the incidents of violence and the idol damage at Kudroli.
