Kasargod, July 2: Home minister Ramesh Chennithala has said that the murder of CPM-DYFI activist, Abdul Sharif, a resident of Panathadi will be probed by the police team led by Kannur IGP. He disclosed this during a meeting of the Legislative Assembly on Tuesday July 1.

MLA James Mathew had tabled a motion requesting to suspend the assembly session saying that BJP activists had committed the murder. The home minister responding to it said that it is not a political murder and two murders had occurred here within a period of one week. BJP activist Arun Lal was murdered on Thursday while DYFI worker Abdul Sherif was killed on Sunday night.

Ramesh Chennithala said that the murders took place under revenge for flimsy reasons. The IGP has been asked to investigate if sand mafia is involved in the incident. He assured that the government will try to prevent such crimes.

Meanwhile opposition leader V S Achutanandan spoke saying that the BJP activists have committed the murder and the party has ventured into such act as Modi government came to power at the center and that the state government is supporting them.

After the response of home minister, speaker G Kartikeyan refused to give room for further discussion on the incident. The opposition
walked out in retaliation.
