Tree falls at Mallikatta, delayed response by firemen evokes anger

Mangalore, Jun 12: A Mayflower tree fell due to the heavy rain at Mallikatta here on Thursday June 12.

The incident at happened at around 4:30 am. The residents of Mallikatte came to know about the incident at around 5 am and quickly called the fire station. However, the fire fighters came to the spot several hours later at 9 am, sources said.


The undue delay in the fire personnel's arrival evoked anger among the residents, as the fallen tree created much incovenience to students and office-goers.

The locals said that deputy commissioner A B Ibrahim should take strict action against the fire service for not responding to their call immediately.

They also told the fire fighters that the spot is prone to accidents and is a busy area, hence they should have come early.

After long efforts, the firemen were finally able to clear the area. Auto rickshaw drivers too joined hands in the operation.
