Bantwal, Jun 12: A grudge between two individuals led to group clashes resulting in one person being stabbed in Bantwal Kelagina Pete.

There was a personal grudge between local BJP leader Khaleel and meat seller Sanaulla since some days. Recently, a verbal fight erupted between them which led to the clash.

As a continuation of this clash, on Tuesday June 11 once again a verbal clash erupted between the two. But this clash turned into a major fight between the supporters of Khaleel and Sanaulla.

In this incident, Abdul Rehman, a relative of Khaleel, stabbed Sanaulla's brother Anwar.

Anwar, who was severely injured in the attack, was immediately shifted to a private hospital in Mangalore.

Even after Anwar was shifted to hospital, supporters on both sides once again began fighting.  It is alleged that Sanaulla’s supporters also attacked the residence of Khaleel and his family members. All are admitted in various hospitals. In this incident, at least three people were injured. Tension prevailed in the area and as a precautionary measure, senior police officers rushed to the spot. A larger police force has been deployed in the region.

Two complaints have been registered at Bantwal town police station.

In relation to this incident, the police arrested four persons—Rehman, Kaleel, Abbas, and Basheer. The police are in search of other group members.
