Mangalore, May 27: KPCC secretary and Congress leader Ivan D’Souza received zero votes in the Dakshina Kannada Co-operative Union governing body election. The election was held on Monday May 26.
The opponent Devadas Adapa bagged all the 24 votes while Ivan D’Souza could not get even a single vote. This is a humiliating defeat to the Congress leader and it comes soon after the debacle in the parliamentary election which was held recently.
As many as 12 out of the 13 board of directors were anonymously elected, while there was election for one post. For this, Devadas Adapa and Ivan D’Souza had submitted nomination letters. Although there were several rounds of discussion to anonymously elect one, none of the two candidates agreed to withdraw the nomination letter. Hence, an election was inevitable for the post.
There were 31 eligible voters, among which only 24 cast their votes and all of them were for Adapa, while Ivan D’Souza failed to open his account.
Those anonymously elected were PB Divakar Rai (Sullia), Nilaya M Agari (Mangalore), Bahubali Prasad M (Moodbidri), Shivram Rai B (Puttur), Santhosh Kumar Shetty (Bantwal), Sundara Gowda Icchila (Belthangady), Prafulla – District Women Co-operative Union, Prasad Kaushal Shetty – District Trade Co-operative Union, Yashodhara M Bangera – District Fisheries Co-operative Union, Venkappa Naik M – SC/ST Co-operative Union, Shyam Prasad Poonja – Milk Producer’s Co-operative Union and Harish Achar – Town Co-operative Union.
