Sullia: Cattle trafficking - accused try to attack police

Sullia, May 21: A pick-up vehicle trafficking cattle from Sampaje to Sullia was stopped at the check post at Vishnu circle in the town by the police on duty on the morning of Tuesday May 20.

The police have been successful in arresting the accused, Abdulla, Naufal, Aboobakar Siddiq and Ummar. The cattle were trafficked for meat in a very cruel way; the accused possessed no legal documents and so they tried to escape from the spot with the vehicle. The police then chased the vehicle and forcibly stopped it.

It is reported that the accused who were in the vehicle tried to attack the policemen with knives. The fifth accused, Ramakrishna has been absconding while the other four accused have been handed over to judicial custody.
