Udupi, May 19: Pramod Madhwaraj, MLA of Udupi on Monday May 19 said that his Congress party accepted the defeat it faced against BJP in the Udupi-Chikmagalur constituency and that it respected the decision of the people.
Addressing a press meet here on Monday May 19, he said, "In a democratic country, the people’s decision is ultimate and it is our duty to accept their decision with all respect."
He further said, "As per Raghupati Bhat, his influence was prevalent around Udupi and other places were influenced by the Modi wave. The Modi wave was like a cylone and may occur once and then go away, and hence Bhat must be wary of it."
"I promise that the Congress party will restore itself in future. I was neither happy in my victory (in the last Assembly elections) nor sad in failure. Both success and failure have to be taken in equal strides in politics."
Commenting on Raghupati Bhat he said, "Approval of grants is not important as the deliverance of funds, and most of the funds were released during Siddharamaiah's tenure in the last one year."
He stressed that there was no need to lead politics making promises; development does not mean constructing layouts and hotels. I do not believe in taking revenge in politics. It is my duty to maintain equality.
When asked about the comments made by former BJP MLA Raghupati Bhat and president of CMC Yuvaraj over insufficient water supply, he said, "No one has given any complaint regarding insufficient water supply. Raghupati Bhat himself is making it a big issue."
