Panaji, Jul 2: Pollution at vital points in Goa would be regularly monitored and displayed for the public with the Goa State Pollution Control Board installing pollution level indicator boards at various points.
"We are collecting samples from various points and they are analysed by the experts. Boards have been set up giving permissible level and actual levels so that there is transperancy," stated Dr L U Joshi, chairman, Goa State Pollution Control Board (GSPCB).
Joshi said pollution in Goa is much under control and boards are installed to ensure that the levels do not cross their permissible limits.
"Under the national environment plan 2004, the polluter has to pay and therefore we have requested some of the industries to spend certain amount of their earnings in installing such boards," he said.
Two major companies in north Goa have installed boards at the entrance of their factories, besides a board is installed by Indian Environment Association's Goa Chapter at Panaji's Kadamba bus stand which is updated twice a week.
"We intend to install similar boards in Panaji city and also at Amona and Ponda in north Goa and Codli in south Goa," Joshi stated.
