Udupi, May 18: Raghupati Bhat, former MLA of Udupi constituency, organized a press meet on 17 May at BJP office in Kadiyali here. Addressing the media, he said that there were few reasons for the failure of Congress including mismanagement in the CMC which helped the BJP to achieve victory.

He added, " Modi's charisma helped him win the election. The public took the ultimate decision of electing Modi for the welfare of the nation."

He said that Shobha Karandlaje was one of the strongest woman contestants who played a crucial role in achieving victory.

He further said that the Congress party workers were unsatisfied and that they had also lost the confidence of voters. He added that the CMC's failure in controlling corruption in the muncipality and inadequate water supply resulted in the failure of the party. 

"BJP has lost in Mudu perampalli, Odapandeshwara. The election result shows that BJP leads in 17 out of 18 panchayats," he added.

Raghavendra Kini, the district convener, Dinkar Shetty, Yashpal Santhosh Jathan, Raju Kulal, Kiran Kumar, the ex-oresident of CMC were present.
