Mangalore, May 18: 'Rachana', Catholic chamber of commerce and industry inaugurated the self-employment scheme and handed over a Tata Nano car to be used as a taxi for people who are in need of jobs on Saturday May 17 at Bishop house, Mangalore.
Bishop Dr Aloysius Paul D'Souza blessed the car and handed over the key to Jayprakash Fernandes (chosen by'Rachana') during the ceremony.
Speaking to the media, Rachana president Ivan D'Souza said that the association struggled for six months to get a taxi license for the Tata Nano car. He mentioned that they have selected around 100 people who will benefit from this programme.
The Bishop thanked the organisation for their work towards the society.
Marshal Monteiro, MCC bank president; Francis Cutinho, Roy Castelino, Ronald Gomes, John Monteiro, Brian Fernandes, Dr Herold Pinto, Auto matrix sales manager Suraj Jain, Tata motor Mangalore territory manager Naveen and others were present during the inauguration.
