Udupi, Jul 2: A modern, posh-looking police station was inaugurated at Kaup on Saturday by state minister for medical education and district minister-in-charge Dr V S Acharya.
Speaking on the occasion, he said the government was giving a serious thought to modernizing the police department.
The new police station has been built by the state government in association with the Karnataka Housing Corporation. Being more spacious and having better facilities, the public will feel more comfortable while visiting it while in need or for filing their grievances.
DK minister-in-charge B Nagaraj Shetty, Kaup MLA Lalaji Mendon, Udupi MLA K Raghupati Bhat, MP Manorama Madhwaraj, deputy commissioner Ponnuraj, superintendent of police Dr Subrahmanyeshwar Rao, former minister and MLA Vasant Salian, ZP member Sarasu Bangera and local leaders were present on the occasion.
