Udupi, May 16: The annual parish Day was celebrated with grandeur on Wednesday May 13. The present parish priest Fr Arthur Pereira welcomed Fr Rajesh D’Souza, who serves in Gujarat and Fr Arun D’Mello who serves in South Africa, was the other con celebrant along with our parish priest. Both these priests are parishioners of Pernal.
At the end of the Eucharist, the donors were honoured and the parish priest Give thanks to those people who were the Part and sole of celebration of the Parish day and he wished all the Parishioners and well-wishers a very Happy feast and called upon to continue the 'Keep the faith Strong'.
There was also the release of the Parish bulletin titled 'Fatimacho Talo'. Those who won in the competitions were also awarded the prizes. There was also the release of a book by Alwyn Danthi, the Gurkar of Saude ward titled 'Wadduvarant'. He was present along with his parents. The mass ended at 9:45 am with light refreshment for all.
An entertainment programme was held in the parish hall in the afternoon at 3 pm. In all there were 31 events among the 11 SCCs or wards. Each ward was expected to present a Bollywood dance, an Indian Cultural dance and a skit.
Each item’s duration was 4 minutes. All the planning, selection, direction, practice etc was done at the ward level itself. It was heartening to note that so many were involved in the success of the programme and there were above 250 parishioners young and old who came to the stage.
