Mangalore: Nalin character assassination - court bars visual media

Mangalore, May 15: Dakshina Kannada MP, Nalin Kumar Kateel, who has been fielded again from this constituency this time by BJP, had approached the district vacation court against character assassination attempts being made by certain visual media channels. The court, on Wednesday May 14, issued interim stay against beaming of news relating to complaint filed by Sathish Shetty against Kateel.

In a statement, advocate, Shambhu Sharma, who appeared on behalf of Kateel, said that the said order came into force with immediate effect.

On Wednesday, a meeting of Dakshina Kannada district office bearers of BJP and other leaders was held at the district BJP office. The meeting welcomed the decision of the state president of the party in expelling certain persons from the party for anti-party activities. The meeting observed that the persons against whom this action was taken, had been trying to achieve selfish ends since sometime even before the election was announced. The meeting decided to unitedly resist attempts being made to sully the character of a person, and to fight against this menace through legal recourse.

MLA, Angara, K Monappa Bhandary, former ministers, Krishna J Palemar and Nagaraj Shetty, former MLAs, Rukmaya Poojary, Yogeesh Bhat, Jayaram Shetty, Kumble Sundar Rao, block committee presidents, general secretaries, Nalin Kumar Kateel, and district unit office bearers were present at the meeting.
