Kundapur, May 14: The Lokayukta police arrested a revenue inspector from Byndoor in the taluk named Santosh on charges of demanding and accepting bribe for attending to his duty.
It is said that Santosh had demanded for a bribe of Rs 25,000 from a person named Chacko TC from Mudoor village near Byndoor. Chacko had applied for changing the Khata relating to 1.65 acres of agricultural land owned by him in his village. After Chacko expressed his inability to pay so much amount, the revenue inspector reportedly agreed to reduce the amount of bribe to Rs 12,000.
Chacko thereafter complained to the Lokayukta. The Lokayukta police nabbed the revenue inspector when accepting the bribe on Tuesday May 13. He was thereafter produced in the court.
The raid was conducted by Lokayukta police inspector, Mohan Kottary, with the help of his subordinates, under the guidance of Udupi Lokayukta deputy superintendent of police, Umesh G Shet.
