Mangalore, May 12: The international nurses day 2014 was celebrated by the students' nurses association of Laxmi Memorial College of Nursing on Saturday May 10 at the AJ Institute of Medical Science auditorium, Kuntikana.
The theme for the nurses day 'Nurses: A Force for Change: A Vital Resource of Health' was unveiled by Jaison Jacob, SNA advisor, Laxmi Memorial College of Nursing.
Sr Lordana Korah, ex-principal of St Ann’s College of Nursing was the chief guest, who in her address said that nurses should be equitably distributed so that the marginalized and weaker sections of the society get access to health care. She stressed on the importance of having quality nurses and good working conditions for providing quality health care.
Dr Larissa Martha Sams, principal, Laxmi Memorial College of Nursing said that nurses should project themselves to demonstrate to the government, employer and society that they are vital resources of health.
The vote of thanks was delivered by Aloke Sreedhar, vice president, SNA, LMCN.
The inaugural function was followed by a panel discussion on the theme of the day and the programme came to an end with a sumptuous meal for the faculty and students.
