Daijiworld Correspondent in Panaji

Panaji, Jun 27: Member of parliament,  Shantaram Naik , has said that the entire Panaji city requires to be provided with wireless network (WIMAX) and localized wireless network (WI-FI) in the very near future, and that, he will be taking up the matter with the Union Communication Minister.

Naik who visited today BSNL establishment in Panaji, recently , said that although a few WI-FI connections have been given by the BSNL, the system can work only after Panaji city gets WIMAX network to cover the entire city.

In today's world of modern technology, when Goa is venturing into Information Technology Park and when the state is expecting foreign investment, Goa should not lag behind in providing most up-to-date internet technology to the entrepreneurs.

Naik was accompanied by General Secretaries of the GPCC, Altinho Gomes and Artur Sequeira, Secretary Gurudas Natekar and Ex-General Secretary of the GPCC Adv. Victor Diniz.

Desarker, General Manager, Goa Telecom welcomed Naik.

Naik told the officials of the BSNL, Goa that, he will personally render them all assistance in achieving their objective of double teledensity of Goa, and bring 80% of surface area of Goa under mobile coverage.

Naik stressed the need of providing broadband facility to the increased number of people.

Naik said that pole less telephone connection should be provided to other areas in Goa in phases, but at a faster rate.
