Mangalore, May 1: A 20-year-old who went missing on Tuesday April 29 was found dead at Uliya here on Thursday May 1.
The body of Junaid Sheik (20) was found floating in Netravati river by the Panambur police while they were searching for him. The body was partly decomposed.
It is said that Junaid, a resident of Jeppu who was employed at Lifestyle store in City Centre Mall, had gone out with his friends on April 29, but did not return home. His family filed a missing complaint in the police station the same day.
It is said that he made his last call to Suhail, his cousin, on Tuesday at 7 am, asking him to collect his ATM card from a shop located at Morgan’s Gate and draw his monthly salary. He then instructed Suhail to hand over the money to his mother.
While some of his friends expressed suspicion that he might have committed suicide, Junaid's family was unsure about the cause of his sudden death. Though currently they have no doubt on anyone, they pointed out that Junaid was accompanied by his friends on the day he went missing.
Junaid is survived by his parents, brother and sister.
As the body was found at Uliya, a case has been registered in Ullal police station and further investigations are on.
