Bangalore, Apr 30: The New Deli based Dr Ambedkar Foundation has decided to fund establishment of Dr Ambedkar chairs in all universities in the country.
The Foundation’s General Body meeting chaired by the Union Railway and Social Justice and Empowerment Minister Mallikarjuna Kharge in Banglore on Wednesday decided to fund Rs 50 lakh each to Dr Ambedkar Chair in Universities.
Several universities in the Country have already established the chairs named after the architect of Indian Constitution.
A decision was taken to translate works of Dr B R Ambedkar in all State languages to enable common people to understand his contributions to the nation.
It was also decided to establish Dr Ambedkar National Memorial and Dr Ambedkar National Center for Social Justice in New Delhi, at a cost of over Rs 195 crore.
The Union ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment released the fund.
Karnataka’s Social Welfare Minister H Anjaneya, who briefed reporters, said the Dr Ambedkar National Center for Social Justice would come up on 3.5 acres in Delhi.
The foundation was established to mark the birth centenary celebrations of Dr Ambedkar in 1993, has also proposed to undertake several welfare activities for the upliftment of the Dalits.
Kharge, who is also ex-officio chairman of the Foundation, declined to speak to the media following enforcement of the election code of conduct.
Members of the Foundation also attended the meeting held at the Conference Hall of the State Secretariat.
