Mangalore, Apr 27: A Continuing Medical Education (CME) on wrist injuries was inaugurated, with Fr Patrick Rodrigues lighting the lamp along with other dignitaries on the dias, here at Father Muller Medical College Hospital on Sunday April 27.
The event was organized by hand and microvascular surgery Unit, department of orthopedics in consortium with Karnataka orthopedic association and Canara orthopedic society.
Delivering the inaugural address Fr Patrick quipped that he loses over his shuttle opponents, particularly the medical students. They have advised him that his loss in the badminton matches is due to his weak wrist. He further also said that his wrist failed in taking the orders of his mind during his young days, however now, at an older age he could force his wrist to obey orders.
“The knowledge on any discipline if imparted through experienced resource persons could be reckoned as best in comparison to the knowledge accumulated by reading books on the subjects”, he expressed that he was content with the department of orthopedics which has seized the opportunity to bring most of the elite personalities in connection to the field under one roof. The resource persons alone cannot make the day fruitful. The audience interest also has a high stake in the inclusive success of the event," he said.
He lauded the commitment of the organizers in organizing the programme to educate more on the topic. He wished that good orthopedics may emerge learning best out of this event and treat the people of the vicinity to overcome wrist prone problems. He also advised that the early approach to the trouble in what could be the need of the moment, which people usually neglect to act upon.
Prof Bhaskaranand Kumar, former HOD and unit chief, department of orthopedics, KMC Manipal was felicitated on the occasion for his contribution which he delivered in the arena.
