Mangalore, Apr 25:
“The district has been facing several problems which must be solved immediately; the government has not resolved any issue yet due to the election code of conduct. But where was the election code of conduct when they declared the compensation amount for Kabeer’s kin,” questioned Prathap Simha Nayak, BJP president.

He was addressing the press at the district BJP office here on Thursday April 24.

He said, “The district has been facing acute water shortage in various places like Konaje, Padu, Bantwal and so on; the underground water level has been decreasing day by day, the borewells have been damaged and hence water shortage can be seen in many places. The government and the district administration have to take this issue seriously and make substitute measures to solve this issue.”

He continued, “Due to the recent natural calamity of heavy winds, rainfall and thunder strikes within Belthangady limits, many farmers have lost their crops worth lacs of rupees. A farmer has lost more than 800 grown banana plants and one can estimate the extent of his loss. Many rubber and areca plantations have also been severely damaged. The government must look into this matter and compensate these farmers from the natural disaster recovery fund or any other funds.”

“Electricity is another problem faced by the farmers and the individuals; on one hand there has been severe load shedding and on the other MESCOM and the government have been planning to increase the minimum rent for electricity, which is also a matter which needs to be taken seriously,” he added.

“With regard to the question raised before the government for all the above mentioned problems, the reply was that the electoral code of conduct is in progress; if the code of conduct is functional for the current issues faced by the people of the district, then why is it not a problem while declaring compensation to the kin of Kabeer?” he questioned.

He said, “People have been questioning  if the condition of the state government and its functioning. With regard to the declaration of compensation to Kabeer’s kin, the health minister declared Rs 5 lacs,  then the district-in-charge minister increased the amount to Rs 10 lacs and then again another leader demanded for Rs 20 lacs. Are they carrying out an auction in this regard? The home minister declared a COD probe, but these people are fighting for the CBI; too much confusion has been created in the case and various other matters.”

“Whoever has been misleading the case and creating tension at the end of the day, it is the government which is liable to take discussions and answer the questions put forth by them,” he concluded.

Leaders Captain Ganesh Karnik, Satish Prabhu, Devdas Shetty, Nagesh Achar, Divakar Samani and others were present.

I agree with these points. Not because of BJP / Congi point of view. But this topic is used for major controversies. One side it's evident to be an illegal activity. another side it's suspense why Kabeer acted suspicious. Another point is how quick Govt ordered for a COD probe, forcing for CBI probe for such a small issue... lot many questions. and above all compensation is increasing day by day .... from lac to 20 lacs now... what's driving all these ?
