Karkala, Jun 21: A scooterist was killed when a Maruti Omni car collided with his M-80 scooter near the Lions Circle at Hebri town near here on Tuesday June 20 afternoon.
The deceased has been identified as Shekhar Handa. He was the cook in the Government Boys Hostel at Hebri.
On Tuesday he was on his way to Hebri market riding his scooter when a Maruti car speeding towards Shimoga from Udupi collided with Shekhar's scooter. As a result Shekhar sustained serious injuries. He was immediately rushed to a private hospital at Hebri.
However, he succumbed to the injuries and died half the way. Car driver Mushayid of Shimoga too sustained serious injuries in the accident. One Mahabal Naik who was walking beside the road too sustained injuries in the accident.
Hebri police have registered a case in this regard.
