Mangalore, Apr 16: The Tulu film industry has a minimum market value compared to that of Sandalwood, Tollywood and Bollywood. Yet, interestingly, Tulu movies are increasing in number by the day. It is learnt that more than 40 new titles for Tulu movies have already been registered. One such gift to the Tulu movie industry is ‘Chaali Polilu,’ a new Tulu movie by Jayakirana Films, presented by Prakash Pandeshwar.
The muhurat of the movie was held on Sunday March 9 at the government higher primary school, Pandeshwar. The movie has already completed its shoot and is set for further procedures. Unlike other Tulu movies, Chaali Polilu is indeed unique and comes with a package of special features.
Speaking to Daijiworld, Prakash Pandeshwar, the producer of the movie said, “I have a great attachment towards the Tulu language and hence I wanted to produce a movie, thus ‘Chaali Polilu’ is a gift to the Tulu movie lovers. The movie is quite different from any other Tulu movie, as all the well-known faces of Tulu drama or the silver screen have played a role in the movie.”
He said, “There were slight misunderstandings within the Tulu industry, but this movie has cleared it all and united people under one roof. Vijay Kumar Kodialbail and Devdas Kapikad have worked together in the movie for the first time in recent days. The duo has even written a song each. Their drama troupe actors have also worked for the movie along with many other actors of the district.”
“The three main comedians Devdas Kapikad, Naveen D Padil and Bhojaraj Vamanjoor will be seen in the lead roles because the whole movie revolves around these comedians. The duration of the movie is two hours and ten minutes; these three people will be seen during one hour and sixty minutes on screen. It is movie packed with fun, comedy and entertainment. Surendra Bantwal and Arjun Kapikad will be seen in a guest appearance,” he added.
He said, “Comedians Aravind Bolar, Sundar Rai Mandara, Chethan Rai Mani, Raghavendar Rai, Shobha Rai, Prasanna Bailoor, Ravi Surathkal, Umesh Mijar, Suresh Kulal, Thimmappa Kulal, Mangesh Bhat, Agnel Rodrigues and others have acted in the movie. In short, it is an entertainment and comedy guaranteed movie.”
He also said that Tulu movies are increasing and is indeed good, but is better if such films are being made, so as to draw the audience towards the Tulu theatre, only then will it is be beneficial for all the Tulu movie makers.
He said, “Some spend Rs 20 lac and make a Tulu movie without even considering the quality and perfection, which leads to the fall of the Tulu movie market fall. Some make movies for awards and subsidies, but that’s not all, we must gain the attention of the Tulu audience so that they come to the theatre with the feeling of watching more movies in future.”
“A separate board has to be created for the Tulu industry to encourage many people to come up in the field. Subsidies and recognitions at present are too low, which must be increased. The veteran Tulu industry workers also must rise and speak for it,” he added.
Sharing his views and experiences, Veerendra Shetty Kavoor, the director of the movie said, “The movie shoot is complete. It was a total 26 days of shooting. There are five songs. Most of the scenes have been shot in and around Mangalore and in Madikeri as well. There was a crew of 24 people working for the movie.”
“This movie is not a traditional styled movie with a hero, heroine, villain, fights, duets and so on; ‘Chaali Polilu’ is quite different as the whole movie revolves around three comedians who are present all through the movie. It is a story that speaks of these three comedians who are friends and they are the also the heroes; hence it is totally unique movie,” he said.
“Other than the cast, the production team is also supportive. This is my first movie and the crew has helped me a lot. I also had a very talented associate director, Antony Ponsy, who is also a well know Sandalwood associate director. V Manohar is the music director, Utpal Nayanar is the cinematographer while Cool Jayanth is the choreographer; this is probably the best team combined with the three experienced people,” he added.
“Several of the experienced and talented artists of the Tulu industry will be seen in the movie along with the well known journalists of Mangalore,” he said.
With all these facts, it is indeed clear that ‘Chaali Polilu’ will no doubt emerge as a super hit movie in the Tulu industry. Daijiworld is the official media partner for the movie.
