Rae Bareli, Jun 17: Congress President Sonia Gandhi, on her first visit to Rae Bareli since her Lok Sabha re-election, on Saturday remained non-committal on her son Rahul's political future.
"Ask Rahul. He is sitting in the vehicle," Gandhi quipped when reporters asked her about what role her son would be given in the party.
There is intense speculation that Rahul, who successfully spearheaded his mother's poll campaign in Rae Bareli, would be soon given some important post in the Congress.
Gandhi, who was last month re-elected to the Lok Sabha from here within two months of her resigning from the post on the office of profit issue, attacked the Mulayam Singh Yadav Government for cutting off power supply to her constituency.
"Today, on my visit to this place, the only complaint I have heard is that since my election, the little electricity that this area was being supplied has also been cut by the state government. Is this just?" the Congress President said.
Gandhi, who is on a two-day visit, she alleged the government was deliberately imposing difficulties on the people of Rae Bareli because she was MP from the constituency.
"I have come to thank my brothers and sisters of Rae Bareli. Since I have been elected MP from this place, I have launched some programmes, and I want to assure everyone that we will make full efforts to carry forward the work," Gandhi said.
