Mangalore, Apr 14: The Congress led UPA and state governments have helped the backward class society by introducing various schemes,” said Sadashiva Ullal, the chief secretary of the department of other backward class, KPCC.
Addressing the media at Hotel Woodlands, here on Monday April 14 he said, “The central government has helped the backward classes through various schemes like national agriculture development scheme, national literacy scheme, national health mission, national rural employment guarantee and so on. Many people from the community were benefitted because of the Land Reform Act introduced by Indira Gandhi in those days.”
“When Janardhan Poojary was the union finance minister, he helped the poor to get bank jobs by nationalizing the banks in the year 1982. He has also supported the financially backward class by providing financial aid through various schemes for self business, fisheries, shops, auto rickshaws and so on,” he added.
He later said, “The Congress led state government has also implemented various schemes to help the backward class come up in many ways. Construction of community centers, hostels, Rs 2 crores grant for the mogaveera community bhavan, Rs 5 crores for the Vishwakarma development board, Rs 25 crores for the education development of the golla community, Rs 5 lacs for the maintenance of private hostels run by the backward classes, Rs 2 crores for the Sri Narayana Guru Research Center and Rs 5 crores for the development of the birth place of Koti Chennaya are various instances when Poojary has provided help and support to the backward classes; the state government has aided these projects through various schemes.”
“The loan waiver of famers, ashraya yojane schemes, Devaraj Arasu development board loans of the backward class and minorities, one kilogram rice for a rupee and thirty five kilograms of rice per month for the financially backward are among the various schemes implemented by the government,” he said.
He added, “If there are many engineers and doctors from the backward classes, it is mainly due to the CET system introduced by the Congress government.”
He concluded saying, “B Janardhan Poojary is a well known person and is indeed one of the best candidates in the upcoming MP elections. He is a non-corrupt leader and always strives to give the best to the poor. His actions always follow his words and that is a special quality he possesses, thus making him unique. It is the duty of all the backward class people to send such a representative to the Lok Sabha as he has helped their community to grow.”
Leaders Suresh, Rathnakar, Janardhan, Prakash Salian, Ganesh and others were present for the meet.
