Mangalore, Apr 14: "During the two previous terms of its misrule, the Congress exploited the terrorism potential of Dakshina Kannada (DK) district. But, during the union government's term under Narendra Modi, the BJP will explore tourism potential of the district," said Dakshina Kannada MP and BJP Lok Sabha candidate from this constituency, Nalin Kumar Kateel.
He was addressing a public electioneering meeting that was organized under the leadership of zilla panchayat (ZP) member, Santosh Kumar Rai Boliyar, at Mudipu within Kurnad ZP constituency.
Nalin recalled that during the NDA government's rule headed by Atal Bihari Vajpayee, the country was developed with 'India Shining' vision. "During the period of Manmohan Singh government spanning over the last ten years, India has slipped to the edge of abyss. Therefore, we should build a country that is devoid of Congress party. Terrorist activities, which mainly were concentrated in and around Kashmir in the past, have spread their tentacles all over India during the last decade.
"The only contribution Congress made to DK district is terrorism. Narendra Modi, during his visit to the district, held discussions with leaders about his vision of developing the district as tourist destination. He has proposed sanctioning a separate railway divison to Mangalore, providing employment by setting up IT park in barren land, upgradation of the port, and developing special agricultural zone. If everyone joins hands with Modi, these dreams can be realized," he added.
BJP district president, Pratap Simha Nayak, vice president, Chandrahas Ullal, secretary, Ramesh Bedrolike, Kasargod district BJP general secretary, Srikant, taluk panchayat vice president, Rajeevi Kempumannu, zilla panchayat member, Satish Kumpala, and scores of other leaders and dignitaries were present.
Earlier to the programme, a motor bike rally which wound its way through Naringana,Boliyar and Pajeeru, was organized.
Veteran BJP leadaer, Rajaram Bhat, welcomed. Divyaraj Shetty hosted the programme. Santosh Kumar Rai Boliyar proposed vote of thanks.
