Udupi, Apr 13: A police patrol team in the wee hours of Saturday April 12 found pamphlets and books belonging to Naxals at Bajagoli, bordering Udupi-Chikmagalur district.
The pamphlets were found at around 5:30 am and it is suspected that it was the handiwork of Naxals, said additional SP Santosh Kumar.
He further added that the pamphlets might have been strewn around either by supporters of Naxals or by Naxals themselves. This has been done to grab attention of the public and probably instill fear among voters ahead of Lok Sabha polling on April 17, he said.
He confirmed that there was no information on the movements of the Naxals.
It is learnt that the pamphlets and books expressed protest against the system of elections, and highlighted issues such as Kudremukh project, implementation of Kasturirangan report, tiger project, Inam land etc.
Though it was said that Naxals had blocked the national highway by toppling a tree, police are yet to confirm that it was their doing. The tree might have got uprooted because of strong winds, police suspect.
