EC pulls up Siddaramaiah for using derogatory word against Modi

New Delhi, Apr 10 (PTI): The Election Commission today admonished Karnataka Chief Minister Siddharamaiah for using "derogatory" word against Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi during campaigning in the state.

The Commission rejected the explanation offered by Siddharamaiah on the use of language against Modi and asked him to be "extremely careful" in future.

"Your explanation relating to the use of the word against the leader of a major political party has not been accepted, as that explanation has been specifically used to criticize Shri Narendra Modi personally and not by way of criticizing his Government policies.

"Now, therefore, the Commission has decided to admonish you for the derogatory word used by you against Shri Narendra Modi and has further advised you to be extremely careful in future," the EC order said.

Siddharamaiah, while campaigning in Mysore on March 23, had termed Modi as a "Narahantaka" (mass murderer). "...actually he is not Narendra Modi, he is a Narahantaka," he had said as per the EC order.

The Commission while serving a notice on him had observed that his statement prima facie violated provisions of Model Code of Conduct (MCC).

As per the MCC, no party or candidate shall indulge in any activity which may aggravate existing differences or create mutual hatred or cause tension between different castes, communities, religion or linguistic grounds.

Their criticism of other political parties should be confined to their policies and programmes, past record and work and parties and candidates should refrain from criticism of their private life not connected with the public activity. Criticism of other parties or their workers based on unverified allegations or distortion should also be avoided.

Siddharamaiah had also promised to adopt a village, an announcement considered as a violation of model code. The EC, however, accepted his explanation on the issue.

Siddu is in fear of loosing CM chair...! Out of frustration he speaks non-sense.

His party is not going to win in Mysore and also in 3 Bangalore seats.

His CM Chair Validity is going to expire in 2-3 months. Once he loses his chair, he will be made "ಗೌರವಾಧ್ಯಕ್ಷರು of ಶಾದಿ ಭಾಗ್ಯ ಯೋಜನೆ"

Dear Mr. Prabhu / Bangalore Yes you are a human and it pains you to hear insulting words at your leader. But do you remember a few years back Mr. Modi had insulted Rahul Gandhi saying he is not fit to be a driver in Gujrath. He has sarcastically called Rahul as Amul baby, golden spoon etc. Is this insulting language correct by Modi? In the case of BJP you can insult and tell lies but when something is said about your people you feel insulted. We know what your BJP did to us by moral pololicing in mangalore. You people who have demolished the Babri Masjid by defying the Supreme court order can do any nonsense to this country.

    Dev Sagar, Mangalore,
    Hello Dev,
Question is not whether Siddu has spoken the truth or not, he has violated election commissioners code of conduct, being a CM of Karnataka you can not utter such cheap and rude disgraceful comments, instead show them in ballot box, Siddu is a useless CM and clinging on to Gandhi family to keep his chair, he has no real support in his own cabinet, most of the guys are looking at his political demise (political fall), so that they can occupy CM chair Dr. Parameshwara is one of them, DK Shivakumar is another, all will be known after Lok sabha election, his honey moon period is over, he is getting desperate & nervous.
Mr. Siddu, control your tongue, more you wag your tongue against Mr. Modi, more you will spoil prospect of your party and most importantly your own CM chair.
Highlight your govt performance, unfortunately you have none, than appeasing minorities with Anna Bhagya & Shaadi Bhagya, these are not achievement, but vote bank politics.
Cheer up Mr. Siddu, use your brains, we thought you are smart, but we guess you are not even half smart.
We request all smart Kannadigas to vote for AAP, clean & non corrupt party, will work for Aam Admi.
Jai Hind, Jai Karnataka, Jai AAP.

It is very sad to see EC also Modi's side. Modi criticizing and attacking on Sonia, Rahul everyday and using abusing language on them. But no problem for EC. Amit Shah, Kallakda Bhat has made hate speeches still not arrested. Why EC showing double standard? What Mr. Siddaramiah has said is 100% true, then why EC pulls up him?
