Karkala, Jun 13: "Political parties and politics in the state have been trudging a different path in the state in the last 4 years.  The people of the state might have experienced these changes.  All these changes would throw out a clear picture by next assembly elections. This is a process.  Former deputy chief minister and JD (S) chief Siddharamaiah's joining Congress too is a step in this entire process," said former chairperson of the Vidhana Parishat B L Shankar.

He was speaking to the reporters here during his visit to the taluk as part of election campaign on Monday June 12.

He further said that the polarization process is on the state.  "As first step of polarization I and 3 others had joined Congress.  This process is getting more and more stronger these days.  Political leaders who believe in secular society and ideals are joining hands with us in building up a new and healthy society," he added.

When he was asked whether the Brahmavar MLA Jayaprakash Hegde who has been winning elections as independent candidate would join Congress, Shankar said that the former has always stood with Congress whenever it was desired.  He has been supporting Congress from outside.  "However, joining Congress is his personal matter and it is entirely left to him alone," he opined.
