Udupi: No secret meeting to demolish Babri Masjid, says Pejawar Swamiji

Shreyas H S
Daijiworld Media Network - Udupi (UM)

Udupi, Apr 6: Close on the heels of the explosive revelation by Cobrapost on the December 6, 1992 Babri Masjid demolition, Sri Rama Sene chief Pramod Muthalik said that Sri Vishweshateertha Swamiji of Pejawar Math should disclose the details of the reported 'secret' meeting held by RSS, VHP and other Hindu leaders just before the demolition took place, as the Swamiji, he said, was part of the meeting.

Pejawar Swamiji in a statement to the media late night on Saturday April 6 admitted that a meeting was indeed convened on December 5, 1992 at 10 pm, but denied that anything related to the demolition of the mosque was discussed.

"The meeting was held not to discuss the demolition of the Masjid but about cleaning up the place. The same information was conveyed to the then Prime Minister also. Leaders like Ashok Singhal, Admar Swamiji, and RSS conveners were present. " he said.

"There was no decision on demolition of the structure. Aggravated Karsevaks who were disappointed with the leaders vented their outrage and went on to destroy the structure. I too was a part of the meeting and there was no agenda to demolish the structure," he said, adding that he had in fact tried to stop the demolition when the Karsevaks went on a rampage.

"Reports claiming that we held a secret meeting to demolish the mosque are totally false. Its nothing but a rumour. Only a homa was performed at 10 pm," he said.

On his opinion about building of Ram temple at the spot, he said the next government would decide on it.

Speaking to daijiworld, Pramod Muthalik said that during the 90s he was working as a small-time pracharak in Mysore district and was unaware of the secret meeting held on December 5, 1992. "Why was the meeting necessary before the demolition of the structure?" he questioned.

"It is factually correct that RSS, VHP and BJP were actively involved in the incident, but there was no need for Cobrapost to assert it. It was already open in the public. The Pejawar Swamiji should answer truthfully on the true agenda of the meeting convened a day before the demolition, and the necessity of the meeting. He should not make any effort to hide the details of the meeting," Muthalik said.

"Everyone should know the agenda behind the secret meeting, which then was not even known to many of the cadres of Hindu outfits. It is his duty to expose the hidden agenda behind the meeting," he demanded.

Holding VHP, RSS and BJP responsible for the demolition, he rubbished Cobrapost revelation that  the cadres were given training by retired military officials. He also insisted that the demolition was not planned, but was only a result of 'anger'.

Dear Sachidanad Shetty, You are right. None of the Hindu or Muslim leaders will agree for this peaceful solution. They loose their grip on the community, By dividing society, our religious leaders are enjoying vote bank politics fueled by the corrupt politicians of all the parties like Congress, BJP, SP, BSP, JDS,Muslim legue, Shivsena etc..
The central or state government does not require solution to this kind of problems, They need issues to fight an election and once they get power they grab enough money and forget thos problems. Their agenda is simple to fill their overseas accounts. Poor citizens will loose their life in planned communal flare up. All communities in Inida lived peacefully for dacades and have no intension disturb the peace. I hold all religious leaders and politicians responsible for current disturbed society.

When this demolition took place I was 25 years old and instead of telling whether it was right or wrong, I can definitely say that it had a disastrous consequences on the social relationships between the two communities. Yes, there were occasional fights and misunderstandings between the communities but by and large we had a very cordial relationship between us and used to play together in Cricket matches, festivals etc.. When I was young we used to actively participate in Darga Uroos & Santmari in churches without any hesitation & Muslims were actively participating in Polali Temple Chendu etc.. But after this incident everything changed & you all know what is the current situation in Mangalore..

In a 2005 book former Intelligence Bureau (IB) Joint Director Maloy Krishna Dhar claimed that Babri mosque demolition was planned 10 months in advance by top leaders of the RSS, BJP and VHP and raised questions over the way the then Prime Minister P. V. Narasimha Rao, had handled the issue. Dhar claimed that he was directed to arrange the coverage of a key meeting of the BJP/Sangh Parivar and that the meeting "proved beyond doubt that they (RSS, BJP, VHP) had drawn up the blueprint of the Hindutva assault in the coming months and choreographed the ‘pralaya nritya’ (dance of destruction) at Ayodhya in December 1992. The RSS, BJP, VHP and the Bajrang Dal leaders present in the meeting amply agreed to work in a well-orchestrated manner." Claiming that the tapes of the meeting were personally handed over by him to his boss, he asserts that he has no doubts that his boss had shared the contents with the Prime Minister (Rao) and the Home Minister (S B Chavan). The author claimed that there was a silent agreement that Ayodhya offered "a unique opportunity to take the Hindutva wave to the peak for deriving political benefit."
In April 2014, a sting operation by Cobrapost claimed that the demolition was not an act of frenzied mobs but an act of sabotage planned with so much secrecy that no government agency got wind of it. It further said that the sabotage was planned several months in advance by Vishwa Hindu Parishad and Shiv Sena, but not jointly.
These some pseudo-Hindus in the name of Hindutva destroying an existing House of God to create another House of God.

Tapes handed over by IB boss in 1992 which means tapes existed. How stupid of them not to release it then? They had another chance to release them in 2005 as soon as the book was published. did they misplace the tapes or cobrapost steal it from them just to release them one week before the election. very reliable story

Yes Swamiji is telling the TRUTH!
CLEANING of the Demolished structure to erect a makeshift temple to Ram-lalla.
I had the privilege to listen to BBC commentary Live, till the Central Forces cleared the crowd without much resistance after Kalyan Singh resigned.
It was according to well planned strategy which was carried out by karsevaks.
They first attacked media persons, cameramen & women to prevent the recording of demolition. Women from foreign media were stripped & beaten, they saved their modesty after male colleagues gave them their shirts. What a Culture, we treat women & people from other countries as "Athithi Devobhava"!
People should realize when the case was subjudice breaking the law & demolishing the structure is Contempt of Court.
If BJP doesn't follow or respect Laws of the Land, how can we expect them to do so when they come to Power?
    Think Before You Vote-
    Anarchy or Peace & Prosperity?
    The choice is OURS.

    Hello Sachidanand Shetty , Mundkur/Dubai.
The first thing i want to tell you is that dont start crying for things that has happened in the past. First, it was still not proved that Mandir existed there before Babri masjid stood there. Because in court it is proved that Ram was born in that place, that's why Mandir should be built. I am confused here that During Babri Masjid , It was said that Mandir was standing and last judgement it was said that ram was born. What is the link in these two issues: ram was born and Mandir was there?

Second, There are another 10 temples in Ayodhya which claims ram was born in that place where their temple is standing. Something that happened in that past forget it. People like you want to live in the past, don't want to come forward, but wants to earn in developed countries like Dubai. one more point, Tell me Can any king will build the masjid or any construction on idols. Dear, For good Construction, We need a good foundation made of rocks not idols. Grow up man.

Yes Prakash- there is no doubt about the Ram's birth place was in Ayodhya, but whether the Ayodya of present is the Real Ayodhya of Mythology.
Ram was born as Kshathriya & his birth place should be a PALACE & how come a temple came into existence on the very same place?
Archaeological excavation & the pillars used in that structure had "Yakshas & Yakshis" pointing finger that the previous structure was a Religious structure belonging to the Buddhist, which needs an explanation how Ram Temple bore Buddhist carvings.
As you said there are more than 100 Ram temples claiming Birth Place of Ram, in Temple Town Ayodhya, which is the True Place Ram was said to be Born amongst them?

That is exactly what I am trying to say also "Dont start crying for things that has happened in the past"
Things like demolition of Babri Masjid, Gujarat riots..........etc. etc.... are things of past now isn't it?
    How much 'past' is past?
Thank god, nobody asked for a birth certificate of Ram as a proof. Perhaps non hindus tolerate (even welcome)asking proof for anything that is claimed to have happened in the past. Only hindus as barbarians to allow other faiths to come here and spread their religion in a 'peaceful' manner.

I very much agree with Bhandarkarmam that all these religious heads and all under them should desist from entering politics as politics is full of bad things and if these holy people actively take part in such matters, they can never remain holy and obedient to God.
Then what is left.... Those who are supposed to show all of us the truthful ways when take part in politics, then the teachings cannot be true at all.

Few people who said they are Law obeying people, then why don’t they want to give consideration for the report submitted by Indian Archeology Department based on excavation works done by them? Any how this is not the time to discuss about Ram Mandir or Babri Masjid. Enough damage was already done for both the community. Now better Hindu Philosophers come forward and build one beautiful Mosque in place of Babri Masjid and Muslim Scholars should come forward and allow building Ram Mandir on the same place and both communities should pledge that no more Ram or Rahim issues in future

To clean up the place train load of people from all over India is required ? Being a religious head, one should preach love and religious tolerance, not hatred and destruction of worship places. Ultimately, everyone worships God in different forms. Can you mention at least one single benefit gained either by Muslims or by Hindus by demolition of age old monument other than hatred and bloodshed ? God forgive the sin committed by people for the selfish worldly gain.

    Re: Langoo...........

what Bhandumaam has advised to the religious leaders is what is the RIGHT thing to do regardless of what anyone thinks of any background. You should be appreciating the DW readers in this regard and understand that most Indians want it to be fair and right regardless of their religious background instead of making fun of them.

There is a saying' MORALITY IS DOING WHAT IS RIGHT REGARDLESS OF WHAT YOU ARE TOLD, RELIGION IS DOING WHAT YOU ARE TOLD REGARDLESS OF WHAT IS RIGHT'
