Mangalore, Mar 31: Ullal block Congress on Monday March 31 witnessed an internal clash when Kallapu ward councilor Usman’s faction vented their anger against block Congress president Eshwar over an identity card.
It is said that the incident occurred after Usman found out that his photo in the booth agent ID card was replaced by some other person's photo.
An anguished Usman barged into the block office and lashed out against the president for attaching the wrong photo in the ID given to him. Usman and block president Eshwar reportedly exchanged heated words.
Murali, a loyalist of Eshwar, allegedly assaulted Usman and forced him to leave. It is said that Usman threatened to come back with his group to assault the block Congress president.
It is learnt that over the years, Usman and Eshwar have been involved in fights and even built separate groups within the Congress party in Ullal.
In the afternoon, Usman’s close aide Bukhari came with a few people wielding a sword and allegedly vandalized the office and threatened to kill the block Congress president.
Following the incident, a police team was deployed at the Congress office to provide security to Eshwar.
