Udupi, Jun 10: Shri Vidyadheesh Swamiji of Palimar Math's plan to establish the 32-feet-tall idol of Lord Hanuman at Haridwar in the state of Uttaranchal received a major setback after the Haridwar district administration raised an objection in this regard.  The sources from Palimar Math here said that swamiji's wish to establish the idol were unsuccessful hence.

The Palimar swamiji had intended to establish the idol of Lord Hanuman in a 16 acre land at Haridwar which was donated to the temple by a local devotee.  The idol was to be established on the said place at a total cost of Rs 5 crore.

As scheduled the religious ceremony to establish the idol was held on June 1.  But as the rites and rituals progressed, the deputy commissioner of the Haridwar district arrived at the place with a bulldozer raising objection under the pretext that adequate legal procedures were not followed and permissions were not taken in establishing the idol of Lord Hanuman.

So only the religious ceremonies were held after the swamiji talked to the deputy commissioner.  Shri Vishweshateertha Swamiji of Pejawar Math, Shri Vishwapriya Swamiji of Admar Math and swamiji of the Prayag Math too were present on the occasion.

It is said that hundreds of devotees from the district (Udupi) had gone to Haridwar to partake in the ceremony.  However, owing to the objection raised by the district administration the entire ceremony except the religious rites and rituals were cancelled.
