Kasargod, Mar 29: A second year degree student who attempted suicide after allegations of theft were leveled against her died in a Mangalore hospital on Saturday March 29.
The student is Shamseena (19), daughter of Zakeer, a resident of Uduma Pakyar.
The mobile phone of Shamseena’s classmate was reportedly stolen two weeks ago and some students alleged that she had stolen it. Sources said that allegations were made against her on Facebook too, which added to the harassment.
Unable to bear the mental agony, Shamseena tried to commit suicide by hanging on March 19 at her residence. Her family immediately rushed her to a private hospital in Kanhangad.
As her condition was critical, she was shifted to a hospital in Mangalore. She died while under treatment in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the hospital.
Bekal police have registered a case and are investigating.
