Mangalore, Mar 28: Mallamar Beach near National Institute of Technology Karnataka in Suratkal witnessed an accident on the evening of Thursday March 27, in which a young student lost his life. Rajesh (17), a second PU (arts) student of Little Flower College at Padmanoor, Kinnigoli near here, would never have expected that the fun he wanted to have at this beach to celebrate the completion of the final examinations would extinguish his life.

After appearing for their final examination on Thursday morning, second PU students, Pavan Shetty, Rahul, and Akshay had accompanied Rajesh to Mallamar Beach. Reportedly, the group was playing in the shallow waters of the beach, when a huge wave that lashed the shore at around 5 pm unexpectedly, dragged away Rajesh with it. A thorough search for Rajesh proved futile thereafter.

Rajesh was a native of Hubli, and used to stay in a rented accommodation near his college. It is said that his mother is employed at Bangalore. Several locals including fishermen leaders as well as policemen have noted that youngsters, in their youthful zest, have been losing invaluable lives at beaches. This beach is notorious for very deep pockets near the shores and stribg undercurrents, and hence people visiting this beach should be extremely cautious, they have advised.

Nobody to blame. its sole responsibility of the boys, especially in such disasters. Why should you go to play in sea water first of all ? is it to have fun at the cost of life ? or to impress others on your courage, again at the cost of your life. why ? who is the sufferer ? you yourself and your dependents like parents. They grow you with full of hope and trust on you. You are supposed to be a supportive power for them in their old age. Instead you are making them to support your mortal body. What a loss. Pity on the parents. RIP
