Chennai, March 24 (IANS): Filmmaker Balaji Mohan is among the recent crop of short filmmakers who have turned feature film directors successfully. He says they have been welcomed with open arms, and that justifies that change is evident in Tamil filmdom.
Other directors in the list include Karthik Subbaraj ("Pizza"), Nalan Kumarasamy ("Soodhu Kavvum") and Arun Kumar ("Pannaiyarum Padminiyum").
"I believe the audience has acknowledged us and our films. The change is evident and it's good to see these filmmakers are breaking away from the usual path of filmmaking. They are all headed in the right direction," Balaji told IANS.
He says, in general, Tamil cinema is changing.
"It's not just with us. I feel Tamil industry has started to make different films. Most of them are at least trying to do something different," he added.
Balaji's Tamil directorial debut "Kadhalil Sodhappuvathu Eppadi" was based on his own short film of the same.
He is currently awaiting the release of his second directorial "Vaayai Moodi Pesavum".
