Vasco, Jun 7: When late Vishnu Shetye of Keli, Bardez thought of starting a khanaval in 1950s, he hadn’t had faintest idea that one day this 12 wooden-table ‘wonder’ would be a big name in Vasco.

The famous ‘Aaechi Khanaval’ of early 1950s has metamorphosed into Anantashram. The restaurant has distinction of relishing palate of big-wigs like Madhu Dandavate, George Fernandes, playback singers, Usha Mangueshkar, Hridaynath Mangueshkar, cine star, Juhi Chawla and others.

An open-air restaurant, Anantashram has a seating capacity of 150 persons. And to enliven you, there is music, played everyday.

Anantashram was the first restaurant to introduce Hyderabadi biryani in Goa. The restaurant caters to the needs of many business houses like Salgaocars, Chowgule. The hotel also accept party orders and flight parcels.

Today Vishnu Shetye’s sons have expanded their business, and branched out too. Sanjay Shetye and his elder brother, Shripad Shetye have plans to open a hotel in Mumbai. Sanjay Shetye also runs Vinsan Travels Agency and Vinsan Graphics Production.

The sudden deaths of Vishnu Shetye in 1986 and Anant Shetye, an uncle and partner in the business, did not shake the enterprising spirit of the brothers. They went ahead with new vigour and vision.

The young and enterprising 39-year-old Sanjay Shetye set up Vinsan Graphics Production in 1986. After providing services for more than a decade and having won the confidence of their customers, Vinsan Graphics Production branched out into film-making and event management.

Sanjay Shetye has worked as an associate producer with a Hollywood producer, Mr Paul David on a film, which will be released in September, this year. Sanjay was invited for the world premiere of an animation film entitled King Kong in New York, where he rubbed shoulders with some big names in the Hollywood — George Lucas, Steven Spillberg, Peter Jackson and others.

Sanjay Shetye has a state-of-the-art film studio in Panaji and has produced Konkani and Hindi films, documentaries besides bagging special assignments for corporate sector to produce corporate films.

The Vinsan Graphics Production is the only Goan firm to have assisted in photo shots and for location hunting for world famous publications like Harper Bazaar and Vanity Fair.
